Board game night ideas in Toronto

• A board game café

Toronto has several board game cafés (Snakes & Lattes is the best known), with hundreds of games and staff who teach the rules.

• Pub trivia

Plenty of bars run a weekly trivia night. Teams of four to six are ideal, so it's a natural way to fill a table.

• A D&D one-shot

Local game stores host D&D and other tabletop nights. A one-shot is a great low-commitment way to try it.

• Games in the park

Cards, chess or a light party game on a blanket in a park on a warm evening.

Tips for meeting up

• Say which games you're bringing or want to play, and whether beginners are welcome.
• Party games (Codenames, Just One, Wavelength) are best for a group that just met.
• Cafés often charge a small cover per person. Mention it in the post.

Questions people ask

Where can I play board games with people in Toronto?

Board game cafés, game store events and pub trivia nights are the usual spots. On HangSimply you can join a game night someone posted or post your own.

I've never played. Can I still join?

Yes. Lots of hosts welcome beginners. Look for posts that say so, or ask in the chat. Party games take a minute to learn.

How many people should a game night have?

Four to six works best for most games and keeps it easy to talk.

Is it safe?

Meet somewhere public, tell a friend where you're going, and trust your gut. On HangSimply the host chooses who joins, the exact spot is only shared with people going, and you can block or report anyone in one tap.
